The Inaugural Stern in Africa Forum

Held on February 23, 2012, the Inaugural Stern in Africa Forum featured Mr. Adebayo O. Ogunlesi, Chairman and Managing Partner of Global Infrastructure Partner, as the keynote speaker. The theme for this year was “Redefining Africa: Innovative Business and Frontier Investments in Emerging Africa.” Consistent with NYU Stern’s emphasis on global initiatives and innovation, SAF drew together Africa’s top business thinkers, innovators, and executives to discuss the trends driving economic development and growth on the continent. The forum organized four panels: Emerging Industries in Africa; Africa’s Crossroads: Intersection of Public, Private, Non-Profit Approaches to Africa’s Renaissance; Foundations of 21st Century Africa: Challenge of a $1 Trillion Infrastructure Opportunity; and African Growth Story: Financial Markets/Investments in Africa. Panelists discussed current trends, opportunities, and challenges in each sector, and how they can contribute to the economic growth in Africa. This event was held at the Kaufman Management Center at NYU Stern.
