This ensemble of inspiring young performers celebrated Uganda’s cultural and artistic traditions and shared their energy and excitement with us all in their triumphant return to NYC. In an exclusive pre-performance cocktail reception, the producer of Spirit of Uganda and Founder of Empower African Children, Alexis Hefley, spoke with NYU Professor Awam Amkpa regarding this influential nonprofit. Recognized internationally for her work with Ugandan youth, she has dedicated her life to improving the lives of children devastated by AIDS, poverty, and war.
