Barco Negro
Join the Spring 2023 CLACS Colloquium for a session focusing on the music and cultures of the Lusophone Black Atlantic. Barco Negro features Jacqueline Georgis (Holy Cross) whose latest work uses the lens of batida, a contemporary Angolan inspired electronic dance music, to look at Afro-Portuguese history in Lisbon; Daniel da Silva (Rutgers) whose forthcoming book is Trans Tessituras: Queer Repertoires and Black Diaspora in Lusophone Popular Music; and Cape Verdean-American DJ and producer Where's Nasty.
