Africa House hosted a mini-conference on "Decision-Making Under Uncertainty: AI, Technology, Markets, and Sustainable Development" in honor of Prof. Mukul Majumdar.

Prof. Mukul Majumdar is the H.T. Warshow and Robert Irving Warshow Professor of Economics, Emeritus at Cornell University, where he also serves as a faculty member of the Centre for Applied Mathematics and the South Asia Program of the Center for International Studies. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and a member of the Advisory Board of Economic Theory. Professor Majumdar’s current research interests include sustainable economic development, intertemporal decentralization, allocation theory, international trade theory, and dynamical systems with a focus on chaos and cycles. He is widely published in academic journals including the Journal of Economic Theory and the Review of Economic Studies and is the author of three books: Sustainability and Resources: Some Theoretical Issues in Dynamic Economics (2019), Random Dynamical Systems: Theory and Applications (with R. Bhattacharya, 2007), and Equilibrium, Welfare and Uncertainty: Beyond Arrow-Debreu (2009). He previously served as the Chairman of the Department of Economics at Cornell University and as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Stanford University. Professor Majumdar received his B.A. in Economics from Calcutta University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

The conference featured presentations from Prof. Jess Benhabib Prof. James Foster, Prof. Yaw Nyarko, and Prof. Debraj Ray. It also featured beautiful speeches and the sharing of fond memories.
