A Lecture and Luncheon with Mellena Haile of the Kauffman Foundation
On August 15, 2011, Mellena Haile from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation gave a presentation on some of the Foundation’s current projects. Mellena’s responsibilities include advancing the Foundation’s entrepreneurial initiatives and strategy focusing on Africa and strengthening the development of the Expeditionary Economics field of research. Her presentation included a summary of the findings from the Kauffman Foundation’s Roundtable meeting in London on entrepreneurship in Africa. Attendees of the roundtable included on-the-ground entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and foundations. Her presentation also included an overview of E-Pulse, a research program that tracks the evolution of entrepreneurial ecosystems, as well as discussion about the development of Kauffman’s global founders’ network, which focuses on the Foundation’s next steps to developing entrepreneurial ecosystems around the world.
